![]() Staggering support for Save Saab Campaign
As Saab continues negotiations about its future, Saab owners and enthusiasts from across the UK joined forces last weekend to demonstrate their loyalty to the Saab brand and their determination to keep it alive. Over 200 Saab cars gathered at Saab’s UK headquarters in Luton as a show of support to all those working hard to secure a future for Saab and its employees. The ‘Save our Saab’ convoy event was organised by Saab’s global online community of fans who have, in total, orchestrated over 40 support convoys across the globe. Joined by the legendary Saab rally driver Erik Carlsson – who signed autographs and greeted members of the crowd throughout the day – the cars then travelled en masse to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, where a collection of over 80 Saab models were on display – a nod to Saab’s military aviation heritage. Representatives from local dealership Cambridge Saab were on hand to offer refreshments and had also arranged for a commemorative cake to be produced in the shape of the UR Saab – the company’s first ever production car. James Howarth, Dealer Principal of Cambridge Saab, said: “The spontaneous outpouring of support that Saab has received from owners, fans and employees around the world clearly shows why the Saab story can and must continue. We were proud to be involved with the UK effort and it is our hope that our collective voices will be heard and that everything possible will be done to save this unique company. Thank you to all those who organised and participated in the convoy – it was a fantastic day and a fitting tribute to all that Saab has achieved over the past 60 years.” To find out more about Saab, visit Cambridge Saab on High Street, Harston or call 01223 873 660. |
